Interfor's Eatonton, GA mill operated two early-1990s stop-and-chop bucking lines requiring multiple operators. FiberPro replaced both with a modern Gen 7 Sliding Infinite Trim three-saw log trimmer/merchandising system — integrating 3D scanning to maximize value recovery, reducing woodyard footprint and maintenance downtime, and increasing throughput.

Interfor needed to modernize their aging log merchandising lines to remain competitive. Their bucking process relied on 35-year-old technology that had been the standard approach for decades — but the industry had moved on. Remaining viable required a consolidated, modern system solution capable of meeting current production and value-recovery demands.

We replaced both older stop-and-chop systems with the Gen 7 Sliding Infinite Trim log trimmer. The new system utilizes traveling saw carriages with infinite trimming capacity, fully leveraging 3D lineal scanning technology for superior recovery and reduced maintenance compared to the legacy equipment.

The compact footprint allowed offline installation while the mill remained in operation — minimizing disruption to production. The combination of accurate bucking, increased throughput, and single-operator control delivered a compelling ROI for the project.
